Thank you so much, for taking the time to pay your own respects in honour and memory of Sid. He will be in my life forever in my heart, and in the fabric of time... ABOUT SID
Sid died on June 26, 2009. It was October 1st, 2011 beore I finally received -- finally, finally after months and months of waiting -- the official Coroner's Report. With many unanswered questions yet, we do at least know that he died from a heart arrhythmia, resting on his bed -- with the time of death being sometime on Friday June 26, 2009. His mother Mary was the last person to speak to him, as he went to rest after hanging up from a chat with her that day. Was his heart failure caused by a drug side-effect, as I suspect? I'm sad that the report is short and vague and not enough investigation was given to his death. If his death was preciptiated by a dangerous drug reaction or just a 'natural' failure, Sid would want people to be extremely informed and cautious, when it comes to prescription drugs; he hated taking any pills, anything chemical. (Ask me privately, I have more insight about his death than I can relay here).
Meanwhile, we're just left with memories and the sad awareness that all the memorial tributes and accolades or anecdotes relayed, can never build a sufficient picture of the man who was Sidney A. Johnston.
But, the basics should be shared here; and preserved.
Sidney Arthur Johnston was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick on December 31, 1950. He spent most of his life living in Ottawa and on Lac Bataille in Val-des-Monts, where he unexpectedly passed away on Friday June 26 2009. He is so very much loved, sorely missed, and will always be treasured in memories held by his friends and family.

We got to know each other as neighbours...before long, we were friends. We miss our dear sweet Sid. He had a laugh that left you no alternative but to laugh along with him. He used to leave us beautiful music CD's in our woodpile if we were away- imagine how good that makes a person feel upon their return. We shared excellent conversations, laughter, music and wine as have many others. We wish that we could think of him enjoying a winter in Florida now. Wherever you are Sid, know that you are missed and that we think of you often. David and France

Sid loved the great wit and wry wisdom of actor W.C. Fields, who said "Start every day off with a smile and get it over with."
